Numerous titles have been giving up on theatrical releases this year in favor of streaming premieres. Now the latest horror film starring Janelle Monae, ‘Antebellum’, is joining the great film migration.
‘Antebellum’ focuses on a writer who finds herself thrown back in time to experience firsthand the horrors of slavery in pre-Civil War America.
Originally scheduled for a theatrical release last April it was delayed due to Covid-19. The continuing health crisis has made it near impossible for theaters in the United States to open safely. The film is expected to play theaters overseas and will premiere on PVOD in the U.S. on September 18.
