In 1996 Knowledge Adventure and Dreamworks teamed up to create the live action video game ‘Steven Spielberg’s Director’s Chair’. The game would let players make decisions throughout a filmmaking process to make a short film with Hollywood stars.

Now, game designer Paolo Pedercini has taken the raw footage of the film clips that players were able to choose from and reconstructed it into a choose your own adventure short film. The new game-film is entitled ‘Director’s Choices’.

The film consists of Quentin Tarantino in prison for a murder involving the theft of a diamond tiara. Jennifer Aniston meanwhile attends a magic show to find out what Penn and Teller know about the crime. Barry Corbin plays the warden that is primed to execute Tarantino in the electric chair.

The film looks like a low budget direct to video endeavor. This actually helps the movie be one of the funniest cult movies this year. You can choose if Tarantino remains calm or goes manic and if he stays serious or starts making jokes. My favorite part (so far) is choosing the shootout with lots of guns.

Jennifer Aniston stands out with a perfectly deadpan performance that makes the low budgetness of the movie that much funnier.

‘Director’s Choices’ is free to play with very simple point and click options. It is available for free streaming access at the website https://molleindustria.org/directorschoices/

I highly recommend this game-film as the best cult movie of the year (even if it was originally made in 1996). I’ll be watch-playing it again soon.
