Born on July 12, 1967 in Alexandria, Louisiana actress Natalie Desselle-Reid made her feature film debut in the hit 1996 crime film ‘Set It Off’ directed by F. Gary Gray and starring Queen Latifah, Vivica A. Fox and Jada Pinkett Smith.
Desselle-Reid went on to appear in other notable 90’s films, the 1997 comedy from director Robert Townsend ‘B*A*P*S’ starring alongside Halle Berry, Martin Landau, Bernie Mac and Rudy Ray Moore, and another comedy from 1997, ‘How to Be a Player’ starring Bill Bellamy, Bernie Mac and Max Julien.
Also in 1997, Deselle-Reid appeared in the television movie adaptation of the Rodgers & Hammerstein musical ‘Cinderella’ starring Brandy, Bernadette Peters and Whitney Houston.
Transitioning to television, Deselle-Reid became a regular on several series starting with ‘Built to Last’ in 1997, ‘For Your Love’ from 1998 to 2000, and the hit series ‘Eve’ from 2003 to 2006.
After appearing in Tyler Perry’s ‘Madea’s Big Happy Family’ in 2011, Deselle-Reid’s final feature film role came in 2014’s ‘Zoe Gone’.
Natalie Deselle-Reid passed away from colon cancer on December 7, 2020 at age 53. She is survived by her husband, Lenny Reid and their 3 children.
