As expected the kaiju battle epic, ‘Godzilla vs. Kong’ stayed the number one film at the box office last weekend in spite of a 44% decline from its take of the previous weekend.

The Bob Odenkirk action comedy ‘Nobody’ maintained second place with the Sam Raimi produced horror film ‘The Unholy’ in staying in third.

‘Raya and the Last Dragon’ held the fourth spot and, in further evidence that audiences are preferring animated films, ‘Tom and Jerry’ plopped back into the Weekend Box Office Top 5 after a one week absence.

This coming weekend will se the U.S. release of video game adaptation ‘Mortal Kombat’ which has been doing well overseas but receiving mixed-negative reviews. Being another day-and-date release from Warner Bros. and HBO Max whether it takes the top spot or not Warner Bros. wins.

But will a ‘Mortal Kombat’ movie that does not feature a battle to the death tournament be enough to knock out the kaiju matchup of ‘Godzilla vs. Kong’?
