While the world goes crazy, ‘The Batman’ expectedly swoops in to save Gotham City and, this weekend, theaters boosting the Weekend Box Office Top 5 by 237%.

Starring Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne/Batman, and directed by Matt Reeves, the film follows the caped crusader in his early years as he stalks the crime-ridden night to solve a mystery set forth by the Riddler (Paul Dano). Along the way, the Batman encounters another villainous figure in the Penguin (Colin Farrell) and finds alliances with Catwoman (Zoe Kravitz) and Commissioner Gordon (Jeffrey Wright).

Earning a whopping $134 million making it the biggest box office debut of the year and the biggest money-making debut since the December release of ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ saw the wall-crawler grab $253 million.

‘The Batman’ will easily stay on top for at least the next couple of weeks. Any chance of real competition for the big screens won’t arrive until perhaps the March 25 release of ‘The Lost City’, starring Sandra Bullock, Channing Tatum, Daniel Radcliffe and Brad Pitt.

Channing Tatum is still flexing his star power in the Weekend Box Office Top 5 with his directorial debut, ‘Dog’ holding the third spot at the box office. Pulling in $6.1 million over the weekend the film looks to be heading toward rounding out the Top 5 for the foreseeable future.

Speaking of star power, Tom Holland is proving his silver screen mettle with both the video game adaptation ‘Uncharted’, holding second far behind ‘The Batman’ with $11.1 million, and the phenomenal ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’, the Marvel comic book adaptation from Sony swinging in with $4.5 million over the weekend. While there is still some doubt as to Tom Holland’s ability to carry a film on his own to a major box office windfall, with the success of the Spider-Man/Marvel films he’s been in he may start taking more chances on various roles the way Harry Potter star, Daniel Radcliffe, has done over the years.

Rounding out the Weekend Box Office Top 5 is the all-star cast of the latest Agatha Christie mystery adaptation ‘Death on the Nile’, directed and starring Kenneth Branagh. With a total of $2.8 million for the weekend the film may sink out of the Weekend Box Office Top 5 very soon.
