The highly anticipated sci-fi espionage extravaganza directed by Christopher Nolan and starring John David Washington, Robert Pattinson and Michael Caine has finally set a theatrical release date in China.
Having been delayed from its release earlier this summer it has long been the favorite for reopening cinemas. That remains all the more critical now that Disney moved ‘Mulan’ to direct to streaming here in the U.S.
The new release date has been set for September 4 in China. That’s one day after the September 3 schedule for limited showings in the U.S. With theaters in New York and Los Angeles staying in lockdown that leaves mostly the smaller markets domestically gambling on theatrical showings. Still, as of right now ‘Tenet’ has all eyes on how, when and if it can safely open in theaters giving a much needed jolt of life to the floundering exhibition industry.
