As massive layoffs hit Warner Bros. with heavy corporate restructuring taking place the wholly owned DC publishing company is getting hit with a 25% reduction in staff and product offerings.

One title that is remaining on the schedule is the upcoming five part miniseries ‘The Other History of the DC Universe’ that will explore the popular tales of superheroes from the perspective of people of color. All of DC’s most popular characters (Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman) are white. The Green Lantern John Stewart is the most notable exception.

Academy Award winning screenwriter John Ridley (’12 Years a Slave’) wrote the miniseries which was originally announced back in 2018. Now, providing the corporate restructuring doesn’t interfere, ‘The Other History of the DC Universe’ will be released this November.

John Ridley is also writing an upcoming arc in the Batman series that should also be released around the same time and, according to DC publisher Jim Lee, will be a major focal point for the DC universe going forward.
