Thomas Jefferson Byrd Murder Suspect in Custody

Thomas Jefferson Byrd, actor that appeared in many Spike Lee joints starting with 1995’s ‘Clockers’, was found murdered at 1:45 am on Saturday, October 3 in southwest Atlanta. He was shot multiple times in the back. Early this morning police apprehended a suspect.

Antonio Demetrice Rhynes, age 30, was arrested at an apartment complex in Atlanta, Georgia this morning, Friday October 16. Police were led to the suspect with the help of community tips that identified Rhynes as the culprit. The suspect is currently booked in Fulton County jail. A time for court appearance is forthcoming.

Thomas Jefferson Byrd, age 70, not only appeared in Spike Lee joints like ‘Girl 6’ and ‘Bamboozled’, he was also a Tony nominated actor for his performance on Broadway’s ‘Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom’.
