‘The Batman’, starring Robert Pattinson, continues its run at the top of the Weekend Box Office Top 5. For the third consecutive weekend the DC comics adaptation is the number one movie in theaters.
Co-starring Jeffrey Wright, Paul Dano, Colin Farrell and Zoë Kravitz, the superhero fantasy adventure ‘The Batman’ may drop next weekend. The comedy ‘The Lost City’, starring Sandra Bullock, is looking to take the top spot from ‘The Batman’ when it releases Friday.

‘The Batman’ is the only comic book film to be in the Weekend Box Office Top 5 this week. ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ finally drops off as a duo of debuts make stronger than expected showings.
The anime feature from FUNimation, ‘Jujutsu Kaisen O: The Movie’, surprised everyone by debuting in second place with $14.8 million. As longtime readers of On Genre know, animated films are favored by audiences so it’s not too surprising to see the film in the Top 5. It has been several weeks without an animated offering on the list, so it’s nice to see the genre back in the mix.

‘Uncharted’ falls into third. Starring Tom Holland, the action-adventure adaptation of the popular video game has been on the list for five weeks. As Tom Holland’s Spider-Man flick drops away, this is the only film of his to have a chance of sticking next weekend. ‘Uncharted’ also stars Mark Wahlberg, Sophie Taylor Ali and Antonio Banderas.

This weekend’s other debut is the horror film ‘X’. Directed by Ti West, who has a devoted following in the genre, ‘X’ is making a mark. Starring Mia Goth and Jenna Ortega, the film takes place in Texas in the 1970’s. The plot involves a group of porn filmmakers encountering rural horrors in the vein of ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre’.

Rounding out the Weekend Box Office Top 5 is the comedy ‘Dog’, directed and starring Channing Tatum. While ‘Dog’ may drop away next weekend, Channing Tatum will be back in the mix with ‘The Lost City’ Friday.
