The weekend before the Thanksgiving holiday and Marvel’s ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ is still on top.
After a stellar debut of $181.3 million, ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ has dropped 63% in its sophomore weekend. Clawing up a total of $66.5 million this weekend, the fantasy film is still solidly on top of the box office.
Horror film ‘The Menu’, starring Anya Taylor-Joy, proves both the resiliency of the horror genre and the persistence of Taylor-Joy’s star power. Cooking up $9 million ‘The Menu’ served up horrific delight to audiences garnishing positive word of mouth. Expect a second serving of ‘The Menu’ over Thanksgiving weekend as audiences continue to eat it up.
A holiday surprise popped into third place on the Weekend Box Office Top 5.
‘The Chosen’, a faith based musical series, has once again surprised everyone by rising up into the Weekend Box Office Top 5. Last December a previous installment debuted in fourth place with $4.1 million. This year, ‘The Chosen’ debuts in third place with $8.2 million. Without big name Hollywood stars and very niche advertising, you can bet the major studios are going to start studying this phenomenon.
The DC comic book adaptation, ‘Black Adam’ starring Dwayne Johnson, took a sizable 43% drop after five weeks at the box office. The superhero fight fest may not be flying for long after punching out $4.6 million over the weekend.
Romantic comedy ‘Ticket to Paradise’, starring Julia Roberts and George Clooney, looks to be enjoying its last leg in the sun of the Weekend Box Office Top 5. Scoring $3.2 million, ‘Ticket to Paradise’ may give way to new releases over the Thanksgiving holiday.
